Listing Services

VMware provides several listing services supporting partners to take full advantage of your VMware investment. There is the VMware Compatibility Guide (VCG) bringing forward the richness of the VMware universe and the interactions among its parts. Then, there is the VMware Marketplace, where VMware partners and developers use a self-service portal to publish rich marketing content and downloadable software.

VMware Compatability Guide (VCG)

Download VMware white papers on many virtualization topics, understand what servers works with what software, see how tested software interact with your particular network. The VCG brings forward the richness of the VMware universe and the interactions among its parts.

The listing services provide compatibility guides regarding supported hardware, software, guest and host operating systems among many topics. This on-line tool is regularly updated to ensure customers always have the latest guidance from VMware available to them.

The VCG provides very specific recommendations on both and hardware in order to maximize your investment in present and future implementations.

The system is able to show models for storage I/O controllers, solid state drives (SSDs), PCIe flash cards, NVMe storage devices and disk drives. It also specifies which drivers have been fully tested with vSAN, and in many cases – identifies minimum levels of firmware required. For SSDs the minimum version is specified. For Controllers and NVMe drives the exact version supported is able to be specified. As a partner, you can ensure that hardware components have these levels of firmware, and that any associated drivers installed on the ESXi hosts in the design have the latest supported driver versions.

VMware Marketplace

The VMware Marketplace enables customers to discover and deploy validated third-party solutions and open-source solutions to various VMware endpoints. With this rich catalog of over 2,000 solutions, VMware customers can tap into the full ecosystem available to them – no matter which VMware product they use.

There are three types of solutions that partners can publish on VMware Marketplace: for-purchase, list-only sand bring-you-own-license (BYOL) solutions. For-purchase solutions enable customers to discover and buy solutions from VMware Marketplace. List-only solutions enable the discovery of partner solutions through relevant marketing-only information, whereas BYOL solutions enable the direct deployment of a partner’s solution through a paid or trial solution license key.

The Marketplace catalog consists of a wide variety of solutions across all solution categories (such as storage, security, and analytics) and across a breadth of content types (such as virtual machines, containers, content packs and plug-ins). It enables our rich user base of- developers, DevOps users, IT administrators, cloud administrators, database admins and other users to find solutions for their specific need. The Marketplace has thousands of active users, becoming a valuable engagement platform for our partners who build technologies that complement, integrate or interoperate with VMware’s portfolio, as well as our diverse set of users who use these technologies.
